Immerse Yourselves

July 31st, 2017

"Immerse Yourselves" is my first underwater painting. It gives me such joy and gratitude that have this painting in my portfolio.

To start off with, it was a very difficult process in getting myself to paint this, not because I didn't want to, but because I didn't want to get it wrong.

I started painting 17 months ago. I put it off for so long because I burdened myself with the expectation that it had to be perfect, I scared myself away.

I finally came to a point of realizing that I was pushing away this orb of creative light that chose me to express it. Whatever it comes out to be I'll know that I did my best and trusted that light, but there is no way I can allow myself to let this orb go.

So after 17 months of putting it off, I finally put the pastel to the canvas, and it was magic. My heart overflowed with fulfillment and relief. My mind wandered in the mystic, excited at the reality that I can create whatever worlds that exist under the water. To make one part mysterious and foggy and another part clear and filled with life. There was no limit perceivable. That orb was dancing with joy that I finally chose to express it fully, ready to be fully channeled through.

This painting healed me and reminded me that it is my calling to paint. I am thankful I got to it, and it was more fulfilling and eye opening and mind calming than I ever imagined.
